The "Rainy Day Crow" seeks shelter, to rest until the pounding rains subside and the storm passes through. He will fluff his feathers in an effort to shed some rain, and enable his wings to dry for his return to flight. He may fly between 15 - 30 miles on a good day to search for food. But, if the winds are in his favor he may travel up to 50 miles in his search. He will return home each night to roost and share his findings and food locations with others, to return to the next day. Constantly planning for his survival, his cunning and highly intelligent mind serves him well. Inspired by my love for all Corvids. Hand painted watercolor painting. For 8 childhood years our family loved a pet crow named "Ike". An injured baby left to die, he came home in my father's lunch box to heal and grow into a revered family member. His vocabulary was impressive, and he rode through our neighborhoods on the handlebars of our bikes. Ike was successfully transitioned back into the wild and flew free throughout his remaining years. This experience left me with a profound love for birds, and a special place in my heart for painting Corvids.
