"My CDA - Miss Bardahl 1968" won the race, and was driven by Billy Shumacher. The Diamond Cup unlimited hydroplane races took place on Lake CDA from 1958 through 1968 (including one vintage return in 2013). It is estimated that between 30,000-50,000 attended the inaugural race in 1958. I can remember visiting the boats in Templin's parking lot for an impressive up-close view. The "thunder" of the boats could be heard from miles away. In 1961 a riot broke out requiring the National Guard, local Police, fire house hoses and tear gas to break up the crowd. Exciting summers to be growing up in CDA. All paintings arrive with temporary matting and stock frames, to protect them during shipping.
